Ross puts the Hyundai iLoad through its paces…
We have been doing a lot of business in vans recently and one stands out head and shoulders above the rest in the medium size class – The Hyundai iLoad.
Recently I took a client out in a number of different vans, one after the other on the same route (all brand new and un-laden). The differences were truly amazing.
The van we both thought was the best was the Hyundai iLoad. It drives like a car, is very roomy for the driver and passengers and has a really peppy diesel engine and the iLoad doesn’t bounce along Christchurch’s earthquake damaged roads.
I particularly appreciated the roomy cabin, ok I am 192 cm tall (6 foot three and a bit) and in other vans my knees were jammed and I mean jammed, against the glove box in the passenger seat. In the iLoad I could extend my legs out fully – amazing.
The iLoad has a shorter load space than some but similar overall volumes and is a winner in most other comparisons, in my opinion.
Feedback from the trades industry is that the iLoad owners rave on about their vans, while drivers of similar size vans probably don’t miss what they’ve never had – just don’t borrow your mates iLoad or you will be ringing us to get one!
The iLoad also comes out on top for safety – it has its engine in front of the driver providing much better safety. iLoad is rear wheel drive, comes with a stability control, air con, 5 doors, and even a limited slip diff which means it can handle slippery sites. iLoad is also able to tow 2000kg braked, while some larger vans such as Hiace can only tow 1400kg braked.
There are lots of vans available in various sizes and it’s true to say I haven’t yet driven them all, however in my opinion the first one to test-drive in the midsize range would be the iLoad. Read more about the Hyundai iLoad.
