Mitsubishi have relied on what has worked in the past, with minimal refinements since production of the third generation model began eight years ago. Thanks to the team at Andrew Simms, we got a chance to see what this SUV is all about.
It has an elegant design, with great exterior body styling. As Cars Guide Australia explains “Viewed front on, Mitsubishi’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ front end looks big and bold, while side-on, the high belt line and bulging wheel arches lend it a tough and rugged look.”
The cabin area has more space than the outside appearance suggests, with most of the technology and Bluetooth features you’d expect in a modern SUV. Everything is laid out in a user friendly way. The seating position is higher up than other models, so you’ve got a good view of the road.
The 2L petrol engine gets the job done. It is not a powerful engine and the CVT transmission feels a bit underwhelming at times. However, it stills drives well once you get up to your desired speed.
The safety features are excellent, with 7 air bags, a simple reversing camera, ABS brakes and VRX monitors. We were impressed too with the active stability control.
