The specialist team at Driveline shares a collective career history of nearly 100 years in the vehicle industry, and every individual Driveline consultant has a minimum of 15 years personal experience in the motor, finance or business industry.

Covering everything you need, we were formed in 2001 to provide a complete vehicle supply and finance service for our customers – from establishing requirements to sourcing the perfect commercial or private vehicle, fleet, trucks, heavy equipment or capital equipment, whether new or used, and we can organise the accessories, fit outs, sign-writing, warranties and financing.

Meet the Management Team…
Lance Manins, CEO
As the founder of Driveline, Lance has been with the business every step of the way, bringing with him a 20-year history in the vehicle and finance industries ranging from vehicle sales to offshore finance and corporate leasing.
He is responsible for the overall running of the business, outside marketing, lead generation, business development and strategic partnership relationships – responsibilities well supported by his significant industry knowledge and experience and his unwavering commitment to his clients.
Known for his honest approach to business, Lance has gained huge respect and trust from vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and finance providers over the course of his career. This has enabled Driveline to form strategic partnerships that allow it to compete and succeed against major players in the market place.
Working as a fixed interest and futures trader early in his career, Lance tired of the banking scene and began a new career path in the early 1990s. Key to the success of Driveline is Lance’s background with Fleet Lease (now Custom Fleet) and the 4 years he spent as general manager with another leasing company. This intensive, hands-on career history developed both his skills and his outstanding reputation.
When changes to New Zealand’s accounting and tax laws took place in 1999, he capitalised on the new regulations for the benefit of his clients. SmartLease™, still offered by Driveline today, allowed Lance and his team to better and more carefully manage what happened at the end of each lease term, meaning no nasty surprises for clients.
What Lance enjoys most about the business is opening clients’ eyes to all the potentially available options. “People get tunnel vision unfortunately and are programmed to take whatever they’re presented with. But at Driveline, we pride ourselves on exposing clients to all the options. We’re not locked into any one way of doing things. We’re far more consultative than the other guys.”
Lance runs a charter boat outside of Driveline and as a keen game fisherman loves spending time out on the water in search of the biggest catch.

Paul Tobin, director & national business manager
Originally a consultant to Driveline, beginning in 2002, Paul became a Director in 2004. He is responsible for business development initiatives, maintaining control of payments and vehicle settlement paperwork, amongst other things. Paul is an expert in the entire vehicle lifecycle system, bringing with him over a 20-year relevant career history.
Born on Jersey in the Channel Islands which are located between the UK and France, Paul moved to New Zealand in 1986. An engineer by trade and a licensed auctioneer, his first New Zealand job was as a sales consultant for Montgomery Honda in Silverdale, just north of Auckland City.
His subsequent career includes sales manager positions at two auction houses, and working on the wholesaling side of the industry importing cars from Japan. His significant experience includes, most recently, working as the corporate sales manager for KIA Motors. As such, Paul was part of the team that launched the KIA brand in New Zealand, setting up the company’s infrastructure and finances.
His co-director role at Driveline allows him to fully utilise an extensive and impressive career. But for Paul, the real highlights come with knowing his clients are happy. His consideration for his clients is one of the reasons Driveline has such excellent client retention and referrals, and his sales experience and leadership skills are invaluable to the development and growth of Driveline’s sales team, as well as to key suppliers and client relationships.
