Ford Ranger Raptor 2024 Review: Bringing Baja Thrills to Your Driveway

By BW | 21 March 2024 | Posted in Reviews

Unleash your inner daredevil! This Ford Ranger Raptor 2024 review shows you how this ute conquers any terrain with breathtaking prowess.

Read on for our review of the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost 4×4 Double Cab ute…

A Menacing Presence

Ford Ranger Raptor review: A menacing presence.

Have you ever wanted to experience the thrill of a high-performance off-road racer while still having the practicality of a daily driver?

Well, buckle up because the Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost 4×4 Double Cab ute is here to make that dream a reality.

This beast of a ute is not just a show pony; it’s a purpose-built off-road machine that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.

Stepping Into the Cockpit

Ford Ranger Raptor review: An interior that perfectly matches the exterior.

Let me take you back to the day I first got behind the wheel of this bad boy.

As I approached it, the Raptor’s aggressive stance and muscular body lines instantly commanded respect.

This was no ordinary ute – it looked like it had been hitting the gym hard and was ready to take on any challenge.

Slipping into the driver’s seat felt like strapping into a race car. The bolstered seats hugged me in all the right places, and the interior exuded a perfect blend of ruggedness and refinement.

A Snarling Predator Awakens

Ford Ranger Raptor review: Boy, does this thing go!

With a quick tap of the drive mode selector, I transformed this mild-mannered city slicker into a snarling, off-road predator. That’s when the real fun began.

Firing up the 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost engine, I was greeted by a delightfully gruff rumble that hinted at the power lurking beneath the hood.

And boy, does this thing have power!

With 292 kW of power and 583 Nm of torque on tap, the Ford Ranger Raptor lunges forward with a ferocity that pins you back in your seat.

Yet, despite its savage acceleration, the 10-speed automatic transmission provides buttery smooth shifts, keeping the engine purring in its sweet spot.

Devouring the Wilderness

But it was when I pointed the Raptor towards the coast that it truly came alive.

Engaging off-road drive mode transformed this bad boy into an unstoppable force of nature.

Whether it was powering through deep sand, clambering over rocky terrain, or soaring over jumps, the Raptor’s advanced suspension system and terrain management technology made light work of even the most challenging obstacles.

A Moment of Weightlessness

Ford Ranger Raptor review: That weightless feeling.
Ford Ranger Raptor review: That weightless feeling.

I’ll never forget the first time I hit a jump at full tilt. As the Raptor launched into the air, time seemed to slow down.

For a brief moment, I was suspended in a state of pure exhilaration, feeling like a kid again, relishing in the sheer joy of defying gravity.

And then, just as smoothly as it took off, the Raptor landed with a grace that belied its size and heft, thanks to those incredible Fox Racing Shox dampers.

Civilised Jekyll and Hyde

But the Ranger Raptor isn’t just a one-trick pony. When the time came to transition back to the tarmac, it transformed from a bush-conquering beast into a surprisingly refined and composed daily driver.

Sure, the ride was a tad firmer than your average ute, but that’s a small price to pay for the level of capability on offer.

And let’s not forget about that impressive Twin-Turbo EcoBoost V6 engine. Whether you’re merging onto the motorway or overtaking a slower vehicle, the Ranger Raptor always has a deep well of torque to draw from.

The Only Downside

Ford Ranger Raptor review: With great power comes great thirst.
Ford Ranger Raptor review: With great power comes great thirst.

Perhaps the only downside to this automotive adrenaline rush is the fuel consumption. With great power comes great thirst, and the Ranger Raptor is no exception.

But let’s be honest, if you’re in the market for a ute like this, fuel efficiency probably isn’t at the top of your priority list.

If it is, though, there’s a 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel 4×4 Double Cab model available and we have it at a super special payment plan rate right now. Scroll down for details.

It’s a ute that doesn’t just get you from point A to point B – it turns every journey into an unforgettable experience and brings Baja thrills to your driveway.
