Skoda wagon NZ Police

If It’s Good Enough for the Police, It’s Good Enough for Us!

By Lance Manins | Driveline | 19 April 2023 | Posted in Skoda

Before I get to our super special Skoda Octavia wagon price for this month, let me tell you about how the Police came to choose Skoda.

New Zealand Police changed their primary response cars from Holden to Skoda in 2021. Skoda cars are used as police cars and emergency services vehicles throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom, Austria, France, and the Netherlands.

NZ Police made the change because General Motors has stopped selling Holden in the Australasian market.

After a lot of testing and evaluation, Police chose two Skoda Superb models as the best cars for their work. Both are station wagons, chosen because they offer more flexibility for deployment.

Police will use either the 162kW 2WD or the 206kW 4×4 Skoda Superb, depending on the need. Frontline staff liked the big doors, easy-to-read instruments, and that the back of the car had a lot of space.

They also said that the Superbs were easy to handle and made them feel safe while driving.

Police say the new Skoda Superb cars are better for the environment and are expected to reduce the amount of carbon emissions from the police fleet. The 2WD model produces 162g of CO2 per kilometre, and the 4×4 model produces 176g. The average for all fleet vehicles in New Zealand is 180.7g per kilometre.

If all the old cars in the Police fleet were replaced with Skoda Superbs, CO2 emissions per kilometre could be reduced by up to 38.6%, according to Police Commissioner Coster.

Police will phase in the new Skoda fleet on a progressive basis as their older cars come up for replacement.

Skoda has a lot of experience making police and emergency services vehicles, and their cars are high-quality and better for the environment, so it is a good choice for the Police and the communities they serve.

And if Skoda is good enough for the Police, it’s good enough for us…

We shook down our friendly approved Skoda agent to come up with a superb deal, if you’ll excuse the pun, on their 2023 Skoda Octavia Style TSi 110kW station wagon with 8-speed auto.

These are normally priced from $919.00 +gst per month. Our super special for this car starts from only $754 +gst per month – an 18% discount. I have no idea how we were able to negotiate such a good deal on such a good car!
