Suzuki Ignis Review

By Lianca van Oudtshoorn | 26 June 2017 | Posted in Reviews

At 6”1 I’m not usually a small car kind of guy, so when I was asked to review the new Suzuki Ignis I thought they had muddled me up with somebody else. However, after spending a couple of days in the driver’s seat, I realised that there was more to this little number than met the eye.

Officially referred to as a Compact Crossover, the Suzuki Ignis is smaller than your traditional SUV, but bigger than a hatchback. The boot is seriously deep for a small car and the 5-seat configuration is such that if you need extra space, it’s easy to get it. I managed to toss my mountain bike in the back without any problem and for me, that’s a pretty good indication of size.

I was also surprised by how high up the driver’s seat felt. When it comes to small cars I usually feel I’m dragging along the ground, but the Ignis had more of an SUV feel. The visibility was excellent and thanks to the multi-adjustable seats, I wasn’t banging my head on the roof. I’m not suggesting it was everything a traditional SUV is in this area, but it was much better than I expected.

However, the real test of vehicle comes when I pick up my wife. She’s pretty used to me bringing home a new vehicle every week, and she’s not shy about offering her two cents worth. She quite liked the look of the Ignis and described it as ‘kind of retro without being over the top’, which on reflection is an accurate portrayal. You can also add personalised accents, inside and out, if you really want to funky it up.

However, while a sign-written vehicle is a great way to raise the profile of your business, for some small businesses the upfront cost of both vehicle and design can be prohibitive. That’s one of the reasons why an increasing number of small business owners choose to lease their vehicles, rather than buy. Not only can we include the cost of sign-writing in your lease programme, we can help you into a vehicle that best fits your overall brand. After all, if you are what you eat –  on a business level, you are what you drive.

If you thought a new vehicle was out of your reach, think again. Getting into something like the Suzuki Ignis can cost as little as $329 + GST per month on a Driveline SmartLease, which for businesses is 100% tax deductible.
