The all-new Isuzu MU-X SUV has arrived in New Zealand, gaining the platform and engine from the D-Max ute, more towing capacity, better off-road capabilities and better technology.

It’s almost a little overwhelming looking at the spec sheet for the new 2021 Isuzu MU-X, so much has changed over the previous model.
Main changes:
- Stronger CV joints and driveline (with factory rear locker)
- Increased safety
- A multitude of changes

Isuzu has given the MU -X the same 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine as in the D-Max, producing an identical 140kW/450Nm, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. It’s enough to tow 3500kg, which Isuzu says is segment-leading.
Inside should be a more luxurious affair than the D-Max however, with a piano black and quilted leather-accented interior, along with a nine-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, plus eight speakers.
