First the script, then the stories that inspired the script.
This week’s feature radio ad is Kev who is a tradie…

VOICEOVER: This is Kev
KEV: Hi
VOICEOVER: He’s a tradie and you’ve just leased a new ute through Driveline?
KEV: Yeah it was good. They buy these utes in bulk, so they get the fleet discount, and then pass the savings directly on to me.
VOICEOVER: Looks like you’ve already spent it on the options list Kev. Bullbar, canopy, toolchest… are they ok with you doing that?
KEV: Ok? They organised it all for me!
VOICEOVER: Lease your business vehicles with Driveline.

Our copywriter explains why he went for this line of radio ad…
You won’t drive a better deal than with Driveline, and there are so many reasons why that is.
To illustrate some of them, we’ve developed an “interview” style format for the 30 second campaign. The tone and style is casual, relaxed, and easy going, to reflect Driveline’s brand positioning.
Each commercial features the host introducing a Driveline customer with a very specific set of circumstances. During the chat we find out from that customer why they chose Driveline and what made them so happy with their decision.
Driveline client stories that inspired our “tradie” ute lease ad
Leasing utes to tradies is a big part of our business, so there are probably 3,597 client cases that fed into this radio ad, LOL. I’ll briefly profile a couple of typical examples.
They all illustrate that ONE phone call to Driveline is all it takes to get unbiased advice on all the different utes and fit out options, and get a great deal at the same time.
They highlight how Driveline makes the process super easy so you can make a fast decision and get on with business.
Ute lease case #1: Ram Contracting
The first client case is Ram Contracting, a West Auckland-based landscape construction company that specialises in timber structures and walkways, and has been in business since 2012.
Ram Contracting has become a trusted supplier to Auckland Council for building walking tracks, boardwalks, timber staircases, timber bridges, shelters, viewing platforms and lookout points.
They are responsible for building some of the most remote walkways in bush areas and regional parks across the Auckland region.
When managing director John Tiare first approached Driveline, he had some very specific requirements around the ute fit out he needed. Because they work in remote areas they need access to a lot of equipment, all safely stored.
Driveline consultant Alan Greig visiting Ram Contracting and measured all the different pieces of equipment they needed to carry. He then designed a fit out to suit and worked with the suppliers to build and install the fit out.
Alan must have done a good job because 8 years later Ram now has two utes, an SUV, a tip truck, and a number of trailers and diggers all arranged through Driveline.
The reason John Tiare is so loyal to Driveline is that Alan makes everything so easy, which means John can crack on with building an increasing number of timber structures for his clients.

Client case #2: Auckland Racking & Shelving
Auckland Racking, established in 2003, is New Zealand’s premier pallet racking & shelving supply and install company providing out-of-the-box solutions to everyday warehousing challenges.
They’re growing like mad too. In 2017 they were appointed the New Zealand Distributors for SSI Schaefer Storage Systems, which has further supported their growth.
Auckland Racking is a longstanding Driveline client who originally came to Driveline for a quote on a ute. Driveline account manager Paul Scotting made recommendations, including provision for a fit out to meet their back-of-ute storage requirements. Paul says it was a complex fit out involving different suppliers that came together perfectly.
Auckland Racking got their own quote to compare to Driveline’s and were impressed with what Driveline had to offer. They gave the go-ahead and in no time their new ute was ready to roll.
Many years later Auckland Racking now have 13 utes, one car and two scissor lifts leased or financed through Driveline.

Ute lease case #3: Empowered Technical Services
Empowered Technical Services is a Waikato-based team of experienced power technicians who provide specialist electrical testing and commissioning.
They do a lot of grunty, high-voltage electrical work and they obviously do it very well because they’ve been growing like crazy.
Managing director Lisa Albiston says when she first briefed Alan Greig from Driveline on their very specific needs, she was impressed with his response.
She says Alan spent time to learn what they did and more importantly how they did it, then went out and found all the fit out options that suited their very specific needs.
She was also weighing up buying vs leasing, and Alan outlined the pros and cons of each to help her with that decision.
The way Alan describes it is that clients generally have a good idea of what they need, but need advice on the trickier details. He likens it to an 80% baked scone, with his contribution being the cheese on top and the final bit of baking.
Lisa is now a long-term client of Driveline because, as she says, “It’s no hassle, it just happens.”
And that means Lisa can get on with managing her rapidly-growing business.
